A Weekend Trip to San Diego

The Pacific Coast city of San Diego is known for its beaches, warm climate and the capital of craft beer.  Just minutes from the airport in Little Italy you will find Ballast Point Brewing Company with nearly 50 beers on tap and a tasting flight of 3 beers for just $6! The outdoor patio is the perfect spot for an afternoon of drinks and eats (try the brussel sprouts) while planes fly overhead.  Don't miss out on some great fried chicken at the Crack Shack for an afternoon snack just down the street from Ballast Point.  From there, head up north to Green Flash Brewing Company.  It’s warehouse style tasting room, outdoor patio and music playing in the background hosts a  lively environment and plenty of brews on tap.   With over 130 breweries in town, there is something for everyone’s taste and provides the opportunity to create your very own brewery tour.

After a day of drinking, San Diego has no shortage of restaurants with stunning views and delicious eats.  Eddie V’s sits on the hedge of San Diego’s coastline and boasts awe-inspiring views of the ocean.  Be sure to make a reservation, come for the great happy hour special, and sit back, relax and enjoy the view with a fire pit to keep you warm.  Madison, located in University Heights, is a trendy, low key restaurant with unique outdoor seating that serves modern Mediterranean fare with tasty cocktails.

For a late night change of scenery, check out Coin Haus, a self pour beer and retro arcade game bar in La Mesa.  Just sign in, receive your card, and you are open to limitless drinks and games.  Just be sure to keep an eye on the tally, as you can surely rack up the bill.

While the city lacks some diversity, there is no shortage of good eats and drinks for a couple's weekend trip.
